The Bara Bhangal trek takes one from lush green kullu valley to the stark landscape of BARA BHANGAL RANGE.. The Bara bhangal cut off from the world by the 5000 mts to 5500mts. The alpine terrain betweenthe kullu valley and Dharamshala is one of the most spectacular and little known region of the west Himalya. The trail crossing verdant meadowsand traversing snow passes to across secluded Hindu villages and remote shepherdencampments.are the key attractions of this unique trek. This is thr trek for “Himalyan Hand” with an opportunity t oabsorbunrivalled views of Pir Panjal,Bara Bhangal,and Dhauladhar ranges before descending to the Kangra valley and Dharamshala the seat of the 14th, Dalai Lama and his tibetian govt. in exile.
Bara Banghal

Day 1: Manali to Lama Dugh. (2920mts.) 4to 5 hrs.
Start the trek from Hadimba Temple 2.5 kms from Manali.Climb through the deodar forest for 3kms. To a rocky outrop with a view of Manali.Just above this vintage point is a small meadows before a steep 400mts.ascent through small pasture and conifer and oak forest.the gradient begins tobecome gentler as you reach the camp site.

Day 2: Lama Dugh to Riyali. (3270mts.) 6to 7hrs.
Now the trail ascends through the ridge below Khand pari. Ther are unintrrupted views north towardsthe Sollang& Rohtang valleys.The ascents is long, gradual and exhilarating, with views opning across to the hamta valley7 Deo Tibba. After 4-5 hrsyou reach the verdant ridges.

Day 3: Riyali to Kali Hiyani base camp. (3645 mts.) 5hrs.
You will climb a series of the grassy ridgesand pass a number of shepherdencampments. There are fine views of east towards the Chanderkhani pass.

kallihiyani Pass Day 4: Base camp to Dhanku Thach Lama pahar.(cross the kali Hiyani Pass.)4542 mts. 7to 8 hrs.
This day you will pcross to Kalihiyani Pass towards the bara bhangal

Day 5: Lama Phar to Dhad marri(3495 mts.)
A downhill traverse across loose rocks and and boldersfor two hrs.Then a climb 1/2hr.crossing a stream and further ½ up hill after this it is an easy train.towards the lovely grassy meadow.

Day 6: Dadh Marri to Bara Bhangal (2315mts.) 7hrs.
Similar terrain as the previous day. Finnaly a long and gradualdescent leads to the village of Bara Bhangal. The trail takes you through the forest of Silver birch,Rhodendornand blue pine. Thr final 600mts.descent is steep and dusty.

Day 7: Bara Bhangal to Base of Thamsar Pass (3690 mts.) 7hrs.
Cross the bridge over the river flowing from the Kali Hiyani Pass.and commence a steep 400mts.ascent.ther are fine view of Mani Mahesh.

Day 8: Base of Thamsar pass to crosse the pass then to Panhartu.(4423.mts.) 7hrs.
The trail gradually climb up the valley passing a prominent sid valley and glacier to the east

Day 9: day Panhartu toRaigundha(2400mts.) 8hrs.
The trail leads through the mixed forestof Rhododedron,spureand oak down to the Palchak. From Palchakcross the bridge then reach to the fields of Corn ,Beans and potatoes

Day 10: Raigundha to Billing / Bir.
Tha trail continue to the through Spure ,oak and rhododendron forest.

Day 11: Bir to manali/ Dharamshala by jeep or bus.
