Trek to Beas Kund
The source of river Beas

Duration: 4 Days.
Best Season: April to November
Region:- Kullu Manali

Beaskund

The ancient Indians called the Beas River as Vipas or Arjiki.Which the ancient Greeks called it as Hyphasis. The current name Beas is regarded as formed from Vyas, Who is the author of the Mahabharata, the great Indian epic. However some scholars in himachal Pradesh call this river Vipasha.
Beas kund – Beas so named after rishi(saga) Beas. Kund is in Hindi means Tiny Lake. This tiny lake of Beas Kund is situated at higher and upper valley of sollang.Which is the heart of winter and summer games in Manali.
It is an ideal base camp for the climbing nearby peaks like shiti Dhar, Friendship and Ladakhi Peak. The west side of Beas kund is magnificient peak of Hanuman Tibba(5990mts.) which acrose through the small pass of above this lake.

Itinerary of the trek

Day 1: Manali to Solang. (2480mts.) 13 km. 4 hrs.
It starts from the old Manali. We can visit the temple on Manu rishi(creator of universe) then trek towards the villages, Goshal,Shanag and Buruwa.The rout presents spectacular sights of local life.over night camp at Solang.

Beaskund

Day 2: Solang to Dhundi (2500mts.) 8km. 3hrs.
It offer a spectacular sight of snow capped mountains. From Solang level walk on the right side of the river Beas, through the forest of Oak, fir and walnuts. Leads to Dhundi. Enroot we got the glimpses of the Deo tibba 6001 mts.and Indrasan peak 6220 mts. Hanuman tibba 5990 mts. Camp at Dhundi.

Day 3: Dhundi To Beas Kund then to Bakkar thach.(2900mts) 6 hrs.
A gradual ascent to Bakkar thach after crossing the ford through the boulders, and rocks to Beas Kund. Which is tiny lake also believed to be the source of river Beas and of course the base camp for the wonderful summits around. Visiting around the lake we retrek to Bakkar thach.

Day 4: Bakkar Thach to Solang then drive to Manali.
We trek back to gradual descent to solang. From solang we drive to Manali.
