Trek to Tso-Mo-Ri-Ri Via Parang-La

It Begins in ail descends the kibber gorge and then climb over the Parang La pass (5600mts.). The source of Pare chu- river, the only river to have it’s source in India ,flow into Tibet and enter the This is a high altitude trip Max. (5600mts.) It begins in the high altitude country again in Spiti. Crossing the pass brings an incredible change of scenery as we walk towards the Rupsu plains of Chang-thang, known for the asundance of Kiangs.(Tibetian wild ass.)
For the last two days we camp in spectacular campsite , on beingon the southern edge of the Tso-mo- Ri –Ri lake 4510 mesa high altitude 27km. long and 8 km. wide,this lake is the breeding ground for the Bar headed Geese,Black necked crane and the Brahminy Ducks. We also visit one of the changpa settlements in a bowl style meadows high above Karzok. Where they breed pashmina, one of the trade items for these high Passes.
Day 1: Manali to Kaza/ Kibber (4120 mts.) 10 hrs. By Jeep.
To day we will strt to gain altitude, the first ¼ of the day of uphill drive to reach Rohtang pass(gate way to Lahoul & spiti.) After crossing the pass we descend to Chandra river then following the river for the rest1/4of the day to batal. Then cross the Kunzum Pass( gate way to Spiti.) enrout we enter the first village of spiti, Lossar. Then to Kaza and Kibber.
Day 2: Kibber to Dumla.(4500 mts.) 3 hrs.
This is the first day of trekking and our first experience of exercising at high altitude. We walk down to a small riverand up through the steep gorge bed to reach our camp at the village of Dumla. It is a short day's trek arriving in time for lunch. We use it to acclimation to the high altitude.
Day 3: Dumla to Thaltak.(4900 Mts.) 5 hrs.
We make an early start to reach the pass. The trail is demanding to start and the last 4km. to passare quite steep. Parang La is the Pass along an old trade rout Another short day trek to acclimaties with around 400 mts.hight gain. It is a steep ascent gaining altitude in a fairly short span of time. Camp at Thaltak meadows with great views of surrounding mountain, we encourage another short time in the afternoon to help acclimatation.
Day 4: Thaltak to Borochen (5020 mts.) 7 hrs.
This is a long day walk 14 km. total.we gain about 400mts.in altitude ,and it allows us to further acclamatise. We reach Borochen by mid after noon and relax for the evening the surrounding views and can see the beginning of the trail up to the pass.
Day 5: Borochen to Parang –La(5600mts.)then to DakKarzong (4950mts.) 5hrs.
joining Spiti & Ladakh.It offers great views of the Changthang valley. And Parilungi, a distinctive peak ahead and also the first visible Ladakhi peak. After taking in all the views we descend to the Pare chu river, crossing the glacieron the Ladakhi sideof the peak.For about one hour crossing the pass we experience a change of landscape, from the steep gorge of spiti to the board plain of Ladakh.
Day 6: Dak Korzong to Datang Yongma (4830mts.) 5hrs.
To day our trek follows the source of the Pare Chu river as it winds through a wide valley, with high banks left by the river in the flood This is an abundance of flora on today’s walk.
Day 7: Datang Yongma to Racho lamo. (4600mts.) 7hrs.
We continue along the river side , trail with similar surroundings as yesterday Reaching Racholamo in mid afternoon ,we loose a small amount of heigh during the day.
Day 8: Racho lamo to Norbu Sumdo to Chhumik Shilde(4530mts)6hrs.
We continue to shilde passing through norbu sumdo , We cross the pare chu river and head in the direction of Tso Moriri lake.there is a good possibility to meeting Yak train transporting goods to the area.
Day 9: chumik Shilde to Kiangdom(4540mts) 5hrs.
To day we walk across the plains to the southern edge of the oval shaped high altitude. Tso Mo Riri lake at kiangdom, named after the Kiangs(wild Tibetian ass.)that roam freelyhere. The Lake is a breeding ground for many rare migratory birds.
Day 10: Rest at Tso Mo ri ri Lake.
Today gives you a opportunity to photograph what is one of the most beautiful place in the entire trip.
Day 11: Kiangdom to Karzok. (4570mts.) 7hrs.
We start early walk along the shores of the salt lake(Tso Mo RiRi ). The view of the lake with Langsar Kangri(6666mts.)in the back ground is spectacular. We try to arrive Karzok aa early as possible to avoide the strong wind that are common in the afternoon.At Karzok we can visit the ancient monastryand relax after hard trek.
Day 12: Karzok To Leh / Manali
We Take the long picturesque drive to Manali or to Leh 15 hrs. & 8 hrs.
